William F. Kirchner
William F. Kirchner died at his New York City
home on October 8, 1923, in his 81st year.
He enlisted in Duryea’s Zouaves in May 1861
and was afterwards transferred to a light artillery
regiment. He was mustered out August 3, 1865
with the rank of First Lieutenant.
He joined Sedgwick Post No. 11, in 1866 and
later helped to organize Farragut Post, No. 75
and also Aspinwall Post. 600, serving the latter
as commander for several years.
He served as Department Commander in 1917
and for several years was chariman of the
Memorial Committee of the Grand Army of the
Republic for the City of New York.
