Calvin A. Brainard
Calvin A. Brainard was born in Arkwright,
Chautauqua County, New York on Aug. 8, 1846.
However, he lived most of his life in Buffalo.
He enlisted August 30, 1862 in Company F,
154th NYSV and was discharged as a Private
on June 29, 1865 from Co. E 10th NYSVRG.
He was mustered into the GAR on April 18, 1884.
He was one of the four remaining members of
the famous Guard of Honor that kept watch over
the body of Lincoln.
He died August 12, 1936 and was buried in
Forest Lawn Cemetery.
