Edward B. Lansing
Edward B. Lansing was the 3rd Department
Commander of the GAR in New York State.
He enrolled October 9, 1861 at Auburn, NY to
serve 3 years in the 75th Regiment of Infantry.
He was commissioned 1st Lt., Co. I, on November 30, 1861 with rank from Oct. 9, 1861 and appointed Adjutant, November 9, 1861, with rank from October 9, 1861.
He was wounded in action April 12 – 13, 1863 at
Bayou Teche, La. He was discharged due to his
wounds on November 10, 1863.
He died April 20, 1887 at age 58 in Brooklyn,
NY. He is buried in Fort Hill Cemetery, Auburn,
NY in the family plot. There is no marker to
indicate his high office in the GAR.
