Baldwin Camp #544 Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War\, Long Island\, NY\, joined by brothers of the Oliver Tilden Camp #26\, SUVCW\, Brooklyn\, NY will conduct a headstone dedication ceremony on April 22\, 2023 at 11 AM in Most Holy Trinity Cemetery\, Brooklyn\, NY to honor Franz Huels\, Drummer & Corporal\, 46th NY Infantry and gggrandfather of brother Bill Wagner of the MAB Camp. Brother Bruce Weidenburner will sing the National Anthem\, Joe Badamo will play the drum\, Camp Commander Don McMahon will conduct the GAR Ceremony\, Brother Stephen Zawislak will play Taps\, and the 14th Brooklyn (“They never left the field in disarray”) Living History Society will fire the volleys. Donations and petitions will be solicited for the budding Greenpoint Monitor Museum in the field and at the luncheon to follow at the Plattduetsche Park Restaurant\, Franklin Square\, NY.  After the War\, Franz raised his family in Greenpoint. Remembering the Boys in Blue\, 1861-1865.\nContact:  Dennis J. DESCRIPTION:Mid­Year meeting of the Department of New York\, SUVCW \nSaturday\, 16 October 2021 @ 12 noon @ the Eagles Club 161 Cecil Malone Drive\, Ithaca\, NY 14850 \n(The Eagles Club is behind Wegman’s Grocery store on Route 13. \nYou would turn at the Super 8 which is on Route 13 coming from North or South. \na. There will be a lite lunch available for $5.00. \nb. RSVP to Cmdr. Castler so that the Department can get a better number of how many may attend. \nc. Pursuant to the Department Bylaws\, the purpose of the meeting will be for “discussing\nand formulating plans for the betterment of the Order\, such plans to be submitted to the\nfollowing annual Department Encampment for such action as a majority vote of those\npresent at said Encampment may decide.” In addition to other topics\, we will be\ndiscussing the Dept. Archives\, Future Dept. Encampment Planning\, and future plans for the betterment\nof the Department. All brothers and sisters are invited. \nd. No funds of the Department may be disbursed at the Mid­Year Meeting and the\nThe department shall be in no way responsible or liable for the traveling expenses of anyone\nattending the Mid­Year Meeting. \ne. In order to ensure the business of the Department is being furthered\, I am asking for all\ninterim mid­year reports to be due by Friday\, 1 October 2021. All Department Officers\, Department\nCommittees and Department Special Committees are to file with the Department\nCommander\, with a copy to the Department Secretary a brief report of their activities\nand/or progress. This includes the Department standing committees such as the\nDepartment Encampment Committee\, Legislation Committee\, etc. The Department\nMusician\, Guide\, Guard\, and Color Bearer are excused from this order. In addition\, all Camp Commanders should also file a report by that time of their camp activities. Said reports can be filed electronically via email or via U.S. Mail. \nf. Copies of all reports filed will be made available at the Mid­Year Meeting and\nDepartment Encampment and may be posted on the Department website
