1.      Whereas there are many brothers  who are in possession  of property properly belonging to the Department of New York.
Whereas  the passing of some brothers has led to the disbursement of that Department property to other than the Department.
Whereas a complete accounting of this property to a central Archivist makes logical sense for the protection of that property.
Whereas every brother should desire that property properly belonging to the Department should not pass to other hands.

I hereby charge all brothers to make a complete accounting of what Department property they may have in their possession to the Department Archivist, Danny L. Wheeler PCinC 501 Willow Ave. Ithaca, N.Y. 14850 or dwheel12@twcny.rr.com

I assure the brothers that this is not designed to remove any Department property from its present location. Only to prevent, because of accounting, the loss of Department property when something happens to a brother in possession of that property.

ORDERED THE 14TH DAY OF JULY 2004

2.      I find that some camps tend to hide their light under a blanket of obscurity  while other are well known in their community. All  Sons Camps can use an extra amount of  PR. With that in mind I would point out that all Sons Camps should have a Multi-Purpose Road Sign posted   on all main roads leading into the home village or town of that camp just as most fraternal orders, like the Masons do.

These signs are available from the Dept. of Wisconsin Sign Fund and are advertised in the National Banner. I urge all camps to consider this as an important project for the coming year

ORDERED THE 14TH DAY OF JULY 2004.

3.      The Department Newsletter, The Volunteer, is a vital link for all camps to let the Department membership know what is going on in the Department. We have a new and dedicated Editor, Robert Paul Jr. All camps should make it a priority to get information and stories with photos to him for publication. His address is 48 Antler Dr. Big Flats, N.Y. 14814 or bob@madison-atlantic.com

ORDERED THE 17TH DAY OF JULY 2004

4.      Graves Registration is an important duty that our Department is involved in. Every Civil War Vet burred in New York needs to be discovered and cataloged for future generations. To complete this job we have a large number of cards with this information that needs to be computerized. If you could spare an hour or two from time to time to transfer this card information to the computer program Graves Registration Officer; Robert L. Pugsley can use your help. This is a great cause and many hands make light work. If you can help please contact Brother Pugsley at 1602 West Ave. Middlesex, N.Y. 14850 or 95850 554-3655 or flycar@bluefrognet.net

5.      Chronicling the memorials and monuments to our ancestors  from the Civil War is a very important occupation  our members. Taking photos of and documenting the location of all of New York’s monuments and memorials is a task we should all be involved in. If you know of monuments or memorials in your area I urge you to contact Memorials Officer, Jerome L. Orton, PDC at 213 Dixon Drive, Syracuse, N.Y. 13219 or (315) 488-4076 or   orton50@aol.com to see if that information needs to be added to our data base.
