1.     It is with great sadness and profound regret that I announce the passing of Past Department Commander Charles Doane,
who answered his last roll call on 25 December 2003.

2.      Brother Doane was twice elected New York Department Commander, the first time in 1968, and again at the
Department’s Centennial Encampment in 1983.  He was elected to Membership in the D.G. Caywood Camp No. 146
on 5 May 1959, deriving eligibility from Henry Rhineheimer (Rheinheimer) of the 143^rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry.
Brother Doane was formerly a member of Co. E, 148^th NYVI, Sons of Veterans Reserve.

3.      I hereby charge all Camp Commanders to drape Camp Charters in his honor for a period of 30 days.
